I meant to clarify at the recital, but forgot! We WILL have class this week, but this will be the last week of regular classes! NO CLASS NEXT WEEK! We will take a break before starting our first summer dance session. Normally we follow the ICSD schedule, but with the last week of school being so crazy, it doesn't make sense to have class.
If you haven't signed up for summer classes it's not too late! We are no loger offering the "early bird discount" but we are doing a "refer a freind offer" Come in to the studio or send us an email for details!

I'm sorry I'm sending another e-mail but I wanted to clarify a few things!
There IS regular class all week with a few exceptions...
Thursday Kindergarten 5:00 class will still be held, but will be done at 5:45 in order to get them and thier teacher to rehearsal on time.
Thursday Int Cheer 5:00 class will still be held, but they will be done at 5:45 in order to get them and thier teacher to rehearsal on time.
Modern will not be held! Come to dress rehearsal and I will have your top there. It will be $15. Wear your studio basics. Hair should be in a low, side, messy bun on the right side. I can show you at dress rehearsal 
After the recital class resumes through May. As always, we follow the ICSD claendar - so we will have regular class through the 27th.
I ordered a few extra pairs of Gravity sweats that you may have seen some of the hip hop girls wearing! If you want a pair for you or your dancer, come in the studio! They would be a cute "year end" gift for your dancer. They are $45 for childrens sizes and $50 for adult sizes. They are cute enough to wear to school! Mom's can wear them too
Don't forget! This is the LAST week to sign up for summer dance and get the discount! It's an awesome summer program. We have had LOTS of inquiries about enrollment next year, don't let you dancer get behind by taking all summer off!

Great job by everyone who participated in the competition this weekend! You were fabulous! I hope you had a good experience. Because dance is a performing art, I think it's important for dancers to perform in as many venues as possible (recitals, competitions, etc.) to become well rounded dancers. Here is the FINAL schedule for Saturday! Please look at it and make sure you know where you need to be when! If you have questions, please come into the studio this week and ask.
When you get to Cedar High you will need to enter on the SOUTH side of the high school in the GYM DOORS - NOT the new main entrance. There will be signs and balloons! Once you get there, just ask one of the Mohey girls to show you to our dressing room (classroom). We will meet there 1 HOUR before your performance! The competition may run ahead of schedule (I'm praying it does ) which is one reason you need to be there early.
Your dancer may leave as soon as they are done performing. You are invited to stay for awards (it's fun especiallly for the little ones) or you can leave and come back for awards if you want!
When you arrive at Cedar High your dancer should be 100% ready to perform, ie: hair, makeup, costume, etc.
TUESDAY:
Int Jazz "Freeze" - romper, zebra tank, tights, tan shoes, hair down & curled bangs bobby pinned back.
Beg Jazz "Baby" - zebra dress, black hotties, red gloves, tan tights & shoes, hair down & curled bangs bobby pinned back.
Beg Hip Hop "More" - green gravity sweats, sneakers (the brighter the better!), since there was confusion about having studio basics you can wear your gravity t shirt OR your studio basic leotard. It looked pretty cute mis-matched in class last week. If you're confused, let me know!

Companies are the same as Parowan EXCEPT Compnay {ONE} is wearing studio basics and bright colored patterened legwarmers for lyrical. Let me know if you have questions!

Just a reminder that we have competition THIS Saturday (May, 7) at Cedar High School! I have attached a TENTATIVE schedule - a FINAL schedule will be e-mailed Wednesday. On Wednesday I will send more details about the compeititon. Here are things you NEED to know:
Your dancer needs to be in the Gravity dressing room at Cedar High 100% ready to perform 1 HOUR BEFORE their scheduled performance time.
You are invited to stay for awards, but it is only required for Company dancers to attend! All dancers who participate will recieve a medallion at the studio the following week.
Also, as you know our Spring Recital is Friday, May 13 at 7pm at Cedar High. Dress Rehearsal is Thursday, May 12 from 6-8pm. Details will follow as well, but dates and times are posted on the Gravity Website!
Dancers MUST be in class this week! Their dances look really good - we will work on getting on and off the floor this week

Dancers need to arrive 100% ready for their 1st dance listed ONE HOUR before the scheduled performance time in your Gravity warm-ups. When you get to Parowan High School, tell them you are a Gravity dancer and they will show you to our room. DO NOT BE LATE!!!
Dancers must have or wear thier warm-ups and black gravity shirt. Dancers must stay or come back for awards!!! This is part of being on a Company!

spring break & studio pictures…
Hey Everyone!
Just a quick reminder that we follow the ICSD calendar which means there IS dance Tuesday, but NO DANCE Wednesday or Thursday!
Next week we will have studio pictures. It is MANDATORY that everyone is there - even if you don't want to purchase pictures. We will do a "dress rehearsal" in class in our costumes to get ready for competition. I have attached the info for pictures. They will be taken at the AK Studio & Design studio, which is right across the parking lot from Gravity! If you've never had Abbey take your pictures get excited...she is fabulous! Again, it is not mandatory to purchase a package, but I'm sure you will want to!
Classes should wear the following:
Company {one} {two} {three} and {five}: wear your jazz costume and bring your lyrical costume. Hair down. Pretty makeup.
JBT (Tuesday): zebra dress, red gloves, black hotties, tights & tan shoes. Hair down. Pretty makeup.
Jazz (Tuesday): black romper, pink tank, tights & tan shoes. Hair Down. Pretty makeup.
Hip Hop: studio basics, green gravity sweats, sneakers. Hair down. Pretty makeup. (see below for detail on pants)

DO NOT add any of your own jewlery, hair accessories, etc. Everyone needs to look as uniform as possi ble. For performances we curl our hair, but you can wear it how you want for pictures.
Hip Hop students: I got your pants in last week and they are so so cute! I will not be at the studio tomorrow, but Jenny will be there with a list of who has paid and who still owes. If you have paid, or want to pay tomorrow, you can take your pants. Next week is fine as well!
I will not be at the studio tomorrow - I'm out of town until next week, but Jenny will be there and can help with whatever you need. If you need to pay for your costume you can pay her and she will give it to you.
Don't forget to register for summer dance! Classes are filling up.

Just a few things for your cute dancers:
1. I have attached the edited version of their music so they can practice at home!
2. I am ordering costumes (for those of you who were not here for fall recital). They are $45 and include tights. All you need are pink ballet shoes. COSTUME FEES ARE DUE BY MARCH 1ST!
3. I am placing an order of tights and shoes on March 1st as well, let me know if you need some.
4. Your dancers ARE compeiting in the Mohey Competition on May 7. There is a $15 competition fee DUE BY APRIL 1.
All dates and info can be found on the blog, the calendar and/or the website. Just a reminder that we don't send notes home, so check your email and the website regularly!
recital date & other info…
Things are going well at the studio! Thanks for all you do to get your dancers here every week - I know life is crazy! There are a few studio updates I wanted to give you, as well as some dates.
Here goes...
1. The Spring Recital is scheduled for Friday, May 13 at 7:00pm at Cedar High School. As always, admission is free! We hold Spring Recital on a Friday to make it easier for grandparents and families to come support your dancers. I know it's a crazy time of year!
2. Dress Rehearsal is scheduled for Thursday, May 12 from 6:00 - 8:00pm in the Cedar High Auditorium. It will run the same as fall Dress Rehearsal. More details will follow!
3. Studio pictures are scheduled for the week of April 26. We do them during class time. Abbey Kyhl (www.akstudiodesign.com) does our pictures and she is AMAZING! They are not mandatory to purchase, but we take an individual photo and a class photo in their costumes. More details about pricing and what to wear will follow!
4. Vicky (my fabulous costume lady) came today! We have some darling costumes designed! I will send a detailed list next week with prices. If you are new (enrolled after Fall Recital) and in a preschool or kindergarten class, talk to me about ordering a costume for your dancer!
5. The Mohey Competition (which ALL classes compete in) is scheduled for Saturday, May 7. Just a reminder that your competition fee is due BY April 1 - after that it goes from $15 to $20. I won't have a schedule until the week before the competition - plan on anytime from 9:00-6:00. Solos are the night before - it's not too late to do a solo!!! REMINDER! IF YOUR DANCER WILL BE GONE FOR THIS COMPETITION WE NEED TO KNOW NOW!
6. The Parowan Competition (FOR COMPANY DANCERS ONLY) is scheduled for Saturday April 30. The entry fee is $15 and is due by March 1. Solos are the night before.

studio update…
As we get back into the swing of things at the studio, I wanted to give you some info for things coming up…
Dances:
Each class is beginning to work on their dance for competition and Spring Recital. Please make EVERY effort to have your dancer here each week. If they won’t be here, it would be really helpful to let your teacher know. You can call or text your teacher, or text me or send me an e-mail at mccall@gravitydancecenter.com.
You are welcome to ask your teacher for the music & come video the dance so you can practice at home, if fact…we would LOVE it!
Competition:
As stated in our studio policies, each class will compete in a local dance competition. We alternate between the Parowan & Mohey competitions each year. This year we are doing the Mohey Competition at Cedar High School. It is SATURDAY, MAY 7th. We need to know NOW if your dancer won’t be there, so we can space the dances accordingly. It isn’t really optional, but if you know you have a commitment that day we can work around it, just know that your dancer won’t be front and center J. We will have to put them in a space that won’t look like a hole when they are missing.
There is a $15 competition fee PER DANCER. This can be paid anytime between NOW and APRIL 1. After April 1st the fee is $20.
The following classes are NOT competing: ballet classes, beginning tap & modern. ALL other classes compete.
Studio Basics & Shoes:
I am placing a studio basics, tights and shoe order on February 1st. If you need to order something let me know. Unless you pay upfront it won’t be ordered. If you have asked me to order something for you and not paid, will you please remind me and pay? I have forgotten over the holidays!
If you are unsure of what your dancer needs, feel free to ask!
Solos:
If you are interested in competing with a solo, let us know! All of our staff is qualified to choreograph solos and I would be happy to help you with music and costuming as well. I believe the fastest way to improve as a dancer [outside of class] is to attend conventions and do solos! Dancers as young as 3 can enter. Parowan has a solo competition on Friday, April 29th and the Mohey competition has one Friday, May 6th and we can find other competitions for you to compete at if you choose. Just don’t wait until the last minute, you should shoot to have it done by April 1st!
I have attached a flyer with info on price.
Costumes:
Each class will receive a costume for the dance they are working on now. I will try to keep them as affordable as possible. I build around studio basics as much as possible. I will get you info in prices by the end of January. Costume fees will be due April 1st with competition fees.
The following classes are NOT getting a costume: 3 & 4 year old preschool, kindergarten, boys hip hop, cheer (because you already have them, if you registered after the fall recital, you will get the costume your class already has) ballet, tap.
Fundraiser:
The Pizza Fundraiser has gone out, if your dancer didn’t get it you can come grab a packet at the studio. They are DUE Thursday, January 20th. It is totally optional.
MISC.
Please try to pick up your dancer right when class is over. The lobby gets chaotic & I can’t always keep track of them. I would hate for them to wander into the parking lot and have an accident. Also, the staff & I often have commitments RIGHT after class and it’s hard when we are waiting for late parents. I understand that things come up, just try not to make it a habit
We will do class photos the week of April 26th. They are during class time to keep it easy for you. Everyone needs to be here, but you aren’t required to buy them. Abbey Kyhl (akstudio&design) does a fabulous job, you will want them I’m sure! I’ll send home details as it gets closer.
We have cute “Ruffle Legs” legwarmers at the studio for sale! Check them out.
I don’t have the Spring Recital scheduled yet, but I will by the end of January.
