Class Descriptions

Jazz:  Energetic and fun movement consisting of unique moves, fancy footwork, big leaps and quick turns. To excel in jazz, dancers need a strong background in ballet, as it encourages grace and balance. Students will focus on proper dance technique such as isolations of the body, improving performance quality and developing complex rhythms and patterns.

Ballet/ Pointe:  A classical dance form demonstrating grace and precision using formalized steps and gestures set in intricate, flowing patterns to create expression through movement. Ballet is the basis to all dance and requires great discipline. Students will focus on building the strength, flexibility and control needed to execute ballet technique. Each class will emphasize classical ballet technique and terminology.

Hip Hop: Rhythmic movements usually to music, using arranged or improvised steps and gestures inspired from the hip-hop culture and lifestyle. Hip hop classes will help students to step outside of the box by bringing their own individual style and personality to the movements.

Acro/Tumbling:. We will be teaching proper technique in tumbling skills, as well as building strength and flexibility.
•        Level 1: For beginning tumblers working on somersaults, handstands, cartwheels, etc.
•        Level 2: For beginners with basic skills working on backbends and other intermediate skills.
•        Level 3: For intermediate tumblers working on back and front walk overs, back handsprings, etc.
•        Level 4: For more advanced tumblers working on back and front handsprings, aerials, etc.

Cheer: Students will work on skills such as: jumping, tumbling, stunting, and elite cheerleading skills.

Combo Class:  Combo classes are a great way for students to learn tap, ballet and jazz in one class. Leaning these skills will allow the students to experience each style of dance while improving their flexibility, sense of rhythm and overall coordination all while having fun.

Improvisation: Where dancers come to learn how to dance and create movement on the spot. They work through many different activities to find creative movement within themselves. This helps dancers become much more confident in their art.

Strength and Flexibility: A mixture of exercises to help our athletes with strength, stamina, and flexibility. Our students will be pushed to their limits to help them achieve their goals in the classroom.

Tap: Tap classes are designed to develop rhythm, style and sound. This class will focus on developing proper tap technique, creating clear tap sounds, improving coordination and speed of movement.

Break Dancing: Acrobatic style dancing where kids work on intricate footwork, pantomime, spinning headstands, tumbling, and elaborate improvised virtuosic movements.
